Open Gardens

Carol travelled up and down the country visiting all types of garden, helping 20 owners achieve their ambition to be accepted into the National Gardens Scheme and earn their place in its Yellow Book.

Each programme featured two gardens, one as it prepared to open its gates to the public for the first time, the second, a hopeful, as it strove to pass the demanding criteria needed to be one of the new ‘Open Gardens’ of the year. Gardens entering the National Gardens Scheme had to offer its visitors at least 45 minutes of interest, though the size of the garden was less important than the horticultural variety on show.
