Cassiah Joski-Jethi is a writer/director who began her career working for Gurinder Chadha OBE after a chance meeting on a train. Soon after, Cassiah's debut award nominated play ‘Under My Thumb’ toured across the UK ending in a five-star reviewed run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2017, and her newest play ‘London With A Perfect Skyline’ previewed in London in 2019.
As a screenwriter, Cassiah has completed a number of indie feature commissions and has been developing series ideas for the past few years. Her screen work has been awarded in the West Field Screenwriting Awards (finalist); BBC Script Room Drama (longlist); and Moondance International Film Festival (winner).
She has directed four short films which have screened across the UK and internationally, and her next short 'Catch A Butcher कच्चा बच्चे' was funded by the BFI Network and premiered at the BAFTA-qualifying Cambridge Film Festival 2021. She is also in development with her debut feature 'The Wildness' with producer Emily Everdee, which was selected for the Film London PFM (New Talent Strand) 2021.
She is also a member of the BFI Network X BAFTA Crew (mentored by Angeli Macfarlane in 2018), and was selected for the BFI Network Weekender 2019. She was also a BBC New Creative 2020, completing an original BBC radio drama commission which broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Xtra in July 2021. Currently, she is being mentored by writer and director Claire McCarthy.
Cassiah is motivated to tell stories through a female lens, and often her work explores the projection of femininity, the subversion of typical female roles, and dual heritage/identity.
