Damon
Rochefort

Writer, creator and producer for television and film

Damon is an experienced writer and a producer who works across TV and film.

Current projects include an original comedy Neighbourhood Watch, which he co-produced through his company Nomad. He was recently commissioned to write a monologue for Sharon D Clarke, called Meeting Joanna Lumley, as part of the For the Love of Arts fundraising campaign for the Equity Benevolent Fund.

Past comedy credits include Everyone Quite Likes Justin, Puppy Love, Getting On, and Birds of a Feather. On the drama front Damon has worked as a core writer of the Coronation Street team, penning many highlights for the show including the funeral of the legendary Blanche Hunt and Deidre Barlow, the wedding of Carla Connor to serial killer Tony Gordon, and the double episode tracking the immediate, heart-breaking aftermath of the 50th anniversary’s tram crash. In 2020 he was chosen to write the programme's landmark 10,000th episode. The episode met with audience and critical acclaim, including Victoria Coren Mitchell writing for The Telegraph describing it as ‘truly fantastic television … I literally laughed and cried.’

He originated a series of online standalone shorts for Corrie, Gary’s Army Diaries, the first of their kind for the show. These were so successful, that Damon was commissioned to adapt them for an ITV 2 one-off of the same name.
