Leigh
Campbell
Writer for Film
Leigh Campbell is a screenwriter whose debut feature Kicks won her nominations for the Best Newcomer Award at the London Film Festival and for the Michael Powell Award at the Edinburgh Film Festival. She was also selected as one of Skillset's Trailblazers in their annual pick of top new writing talent in the UK.
Directed by Lindy Heymann and starring Kerrie Hayes and Nicola Burleigh, Kicks tells the story of two teenage girls who become dangerously obsessed with a young footballer.
Leigh is currently developing an adaptation of the novel Hammer by Sara Stockbridge, with Lindy Heymann attached to direct and Andy Stebbing to produce, the project is being funded by North West Vision.
Leigh has also written Scraps, an online drama series commissioned by CBBC and BBC Interactive. The five episodes are to be told in real time over the space of five weeks. Three times a day the user receives a 'scrap' which they are able to put in their digital scrapbook. Each scrap unlocks a 'snackable' chunk of the story - which is mostly film.
