Sara Lewis Holmes is the author of two middle-grade novels, Letters From Rapunzel and Operation Yes. She studied physics at UNC-Chapel Hill, government at the College of William and Mary, and writing at home.

She began her first novel, Letters From Rapunzel, by imagining that her main character was writing letters to her from captivity. The novel won the Ursula Nordstrom Fiction Prize, and was published in 2007 by HarperCollins. She followed it with a story drawn straight from the life of her military family, Operation Yes (Arthur A. Levine/Scholastic Books, 2009.)

Sara has lived in eleven states and three countries. She now lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband and two children.

[T]he most buoyant example of ensemble work since E. L. Konigsburg’s The View from Saturday (1996) and the best of Gregory Maguire’s Hamlet Chronicles.... Quick, funny, sad, full of heart, and irresistibly absorbing.
