Jamie Ballard and Mark Quartley bring Heart to The West End

After a successful run at The RSC in Stratford, the critically acclaimed Written on the Heart staring Jamie Ballard and Mark Quartley, will transfer to The Duchess Theatre in London’s West End.

Written on the Heart explores the legacy of the world’s earliest translators of the bible, who sacrificed their lives for their wish to see a young illiterate ploughboy read the word of God. Jamie plays the Young Lancelot Andrewes, King James’ head translator and Mark plays their Catholic priest.

The production received four stars in The Times, Guardian, Independent and Daily Mail and was described by Simon Tavener at Whatsonstage as “a work of great humanity, warm humour and intellectual honesty”.

Written on the Heart will play at The Duchess Theatre from the 19 April until the 21 of July 2012.
