The 2018 Dublin Literary Award longlist has been announced. Established in 1994 and run by the Dublin City initiative, books are nominated by libraries in capital and major cities throughout the world. With over 400 library systems in 177 countries worldwide, each library nominates 3 titles that have been selected for their ‘high literary merit’ creating a unique selection of international fiction.
Jane Harper’s debut novel The Dry, which recently won the CWA Golden Daggers award, has been shortlisted. As has The Good People by Hannah Kent, Moonglow by Michael Chabon, Barbed Wire and Cherry Blossoms by Anita Heiss. Also featured were Faithful by Alice Hoffman, The Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly, Commonwealth by Ann Patchett which has also been longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie medal for excellence, and Garth Greenwell’s winning debut book of the year at British Book Awards 2017 What Belongs to You.
The shortlist will be announced April 5th 2018 with the winner being announced June 13th 2018
