Ambelin and Ezekiel Kwaymullina have won the prestigious Victorian Premier’s Award for Young Adult Literature for Catching Teller Crow. The Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards were established by the Victorian Government in 1985 to honour Australian writers. Focusing on Australia’s best and brightest emerging authors the prize has become one of Australia’s biggest and well regarded prizes.
Catching Teller Crow has already been shortlisted for a number of awards and the Victorian Premier’s Award is its first win. Allen & Unwin published in Australia last year while Penguin will publish in May in the UK and Knopf are also planning to publish in the US in May under the title The Things She's Seen.
