Imogen Hermes Gowar nominated for South Bank Sky Arts Awards

Imogen Hermes Gowar has been nominated for The Times Breakthrough Award, part of the South Bank Sky Arts Awards, which aim to celebrate the best of British Arts. A panel of judges from The Times will decide the winner, and the Sky Arts awards ceremony will take place on 1 July.

The judges praised Gowar’s debut novel, The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock, as “vividly drawn… an unusual love story with a creepy, weird streak” and its bestseller status as well-earned, “show[ing] that popular appeal does not mean second-rate writing.”
