One of the most prestigious crime-fiction awards in the UK, Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award is awarded every year at the Harrogate Crime Writing Festival. Executive director of T&R Theakston, Simon Theakston, said of this year’s shortlist: ‘Seeing the huge variety and originality within this shortlist, it comes as no surprise to hear that crime fiction is dominating our lockdown reading habits.’
