Jordan Brookes has won the Best Comedy Show award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The awards were presented at the Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh by last year’s Best Show winner, Rose Matafeo, and Stephen Fry, who won the same prize in 1981 – the inaugural year – as part of the Cambridge Footlights.
Brookes’s show I’ve Got Nothing combines stand-up, physical comedy and crowd-work. In a five star review, it was described by The Telegraph’s Tristram Fane Saunders as “deceptively well-written”.
Nica Burns, director of the Comedy Awards, praised Brookes’s “originality, playfulness with the audience, timing and sheer laughter count”.
