Michael Longhurst’s acclaimed production of Peter Shaffer’s iconic play, Amadeus, is back and thrilling audiences once again. Following a sell-out run last year, the play returns to The National Theatre featuring live orchestral accompaniment from the Southbank Sinfonia.
Set in Vienna, music capital of the world, Amadeus explores the rivalry between talented young prodigy Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Vienna's court composer Antonio Salieri. Seized by obsessive jealousy Antonio begins a war with Mozart, with music and, ultimately, with God.
