Team Assistant (6 month fixed term contract), Curtis Brown Creative Limited
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Assistant at Curtis Brown Creative, the UK's only agent-led creative-writing school.
We are looking for a smart newcomer to join our small team, which provides high-quality creative writing courses to aspiring novelists, online and in London. This full-time role offers the opportunity to assist in the running and marketing of all our creative-writing courses. We are offering a 6-month contract (which may be extended).
You’ll be joining Curtis Brown Creative’s five-person team to work from home, with daily Zoom meetings, plenty of contact through good communication systems, and a busy online schedule of courses to deliver. We’ll be working from home until such time as circumstances allow us to return to working in our central London offices.
You’ll be working with Curtis Brown Creative’s tutors (all published authors), students, the Curtis Brown and C&W book agents and some of their clients, and – via social media and online – the wider world of writers.
We offer a competitive salary and attractive benefits package.
You must have the right to work in the UK (you will be asked to provide original documentation as evidence of this).
We aim to build a creative environment that celebrates the differences of our students and colleagues, offering equal opportunities regardless of gender, race, socio-economic background, age, disability, sexual orientation and national origin. In our role as conduits and champions of cultural expression we are conscious of our responsibility to reflect the world around us. This means making a considered effort to create an inclusive culture in the workplace and promote opportunities for the broadest possible range of talent. We welcome all applications from people with interesting ideas, skills and experience.

• Your CV
• A covering letter outlining why you feel you would be ideal for the role (please include details of the dates you are available to start)
• A sample blog post, written by you, which could potentially be used on the Curtis Brown Creative website. We suggest you choose a topic of interest to aspiring novelists who might be considering applying to one of our courses (Hint: our blog posts which offer writing tips/advice all come from our tutors, agents and published authors – don’t be tempted to write a blog post which gives writing advice yourself unless you have an appropriate level of experience).
We would like these materials as Word or PDF documents attached to an email. Please send to firstname.lastname@example.org AND ENSURE YOU PUT ‘CBC TEAM ASSISTANT APPLICATION’ in the subject line of your email.
The closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 8th June.

As part of our interview process, we’ll be asking you to complete and submit a written task.
Due to the high volume of applications we receive for all our vacancies, regretfully we cannot always reply personally to everyone who applies, or provide feedback on individual applications. If your application to a recent job vacancy has been successful, then you will usually hear from us within 2 to 3 weeks of the closing date.
RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK: All applicants for any vacancies advertised (this includes our internship schemes) must already have the right to work in the UK. If you have a work visa, then there must be at least two years remaining on your visa.
