NewsWinckler and Johnson are Stars of Tomorrow
Alex Winckler has been picked as a ‘Star of Tomorrow' of 2009 by Screen International in its annual selection of up-coming talent in the film and television industry.
Alex is one of three of the ‘stars' in the issue chosen to interview an established figure in the industry in a ‘one to one' featured article. Alex interviewed Neil Marshall, director of The Descent, about his career.
Alex's short film Ralph was nominated for a BAFTA earlier this year and his Coming Up film Harvest will be broadcast on Channel 4 later this year.
Jamie Jay Johnson is also featured in the issue, writing an article about the effect on his career of being a Screen International Star of Tomorrow in 2006. Jamie interviewed documentary director Nick Bloomfield in a 'one to one' at the time and Nick suggested to Jamie that he should make a cinema feature. Following its successful cinema release Jamie's documentary feature about the Junior Eurovision Song Contest Sounds Like Teen Spirit will be released on DVD by Warner Music Entertainment this autumn.
