Caleb Johnson is a writer who grew up in the rural community of Arley, Alabama. He graduated from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and earned an MFA from the University of Wyoming. Caleb has worked as a small-town newspaper reporter, an early-morning janitor, and a whole-animal butcher, among many other jobs. Currently, he lives with his partner, Irina, and their dog, Hugo, in Philadelphia, where he teaches while working on his next novel.

Crisp, fresh, startlingly dead-on voices here you’d better believe are true and authentic. Caleb Johnson is as much a prophet of his place and time as was Larry Brown of north Mississippi, as Cormac McCarthy of his native Knoxville, Tennessee, Marquez of his homegrown fictional Maconda.
