Simon
Davies
Writer for film, television and theatre
With over a decade of experience in the creative industry, working with leading theatre and television companies, Simon started writing professionally in 2014. He has been a regular collaborator with the groundbreaking theatre makers Punchdrunk since their inception in 2000 and has championed innovative storytelling techniques with companies as diverse as the British Touring Shakespeare and the BBC.
Early adventures in filmmaking led to an official short selection at the 2006 Leeds International Film Festival (Breathe) and winning the 2005 48 Hour Film Challenge (Haunted Boneyard). After seven years developing audience engagement and digital media skills as part of the creative marketing team Simon left the BBC in March 2014 to apply those lessons to new ways of writing and telling stories. His first play, Against Captain’s Orders, a collaboration between Punchdrunk and the National Maritime Museum ran across the summer of 2015.
In March 2016 Simon won inclusion to the BAFTA Rocliffe TV Drama Forum List for his script Eden 6. Simon recently finished his first feature script, Pariah, a neon-lit noir following a desperate mother through one very dark night and is working on his second, Substitutes, a bitter-sweet comedy about love and human resources in a near future where people outsource life’s more awkward moments.
He is developing two television crime dramas and one genre bending confection that combines the conventions of cookery programmes with his life long obsession with murder mysteries
