Director and writer

Stella is a director and writer for film and TV. She most recently directed Sitting in Limbo - the 90 minute standalone drama for Leftbank Pictures and BBC One about the Windrush scandal. The piece won Best Single Drama at the BAFTA TV Awards 2021.

In 2019, Stella was named a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit and directed 3 episodes of Trigonometry, Duncan Macmillan’s show for BBC One produced by Tessa Ross/House Productions. Other credits for TV include Channel 4 drama Through the Gates starring Ria Zmitrowicz and Wunmi Mosaku. The show was nominated for Best Single Drama at BAFTA TV Awards 2019.

Stella started out working in film and was mentored by Sally Potter. Her debut short film Little Soldier was backed by Film London, shot by Robbie Ryan and stars Zawe Ashton. For this, Stella was awarded Best Female Director at the London Short Film Festival, Best International Short at Cork International Film Festival and Best Screenplay at Underwire Festival. She is developing her debut feature with Cecilia Frugiuele and Olivier Kaempfer at Parkville Pictures for BBC Films.
