the cast list of Big School (BBC1) couldn't fail to draw the eye, stuffed like a prize summer pudding … All that promise means there's further to fall, right? Yes, usually. But this time it was great.

No one told me what good fun Big School is. Raucous, broad, and politically incorrect, Friday’s edition had just one thing in common with The Secrets, and that was a superb cast that knew exactly what it was doing.
