Vanessa Kanbi is a Scottish Ghanaian presenter, filmmaker and podcaster who has a passion to shine a light on untold stories. Originally from Edinburgh Vanessa lives between the UK and Ghana.

In 2021, Vanessa will be heard co-hosting a brand new BBC Sounds podcast, produced by The Big Light in Scotland. She has been named as one of the inaugural class of #YouTubeBlack Voices Creator Class of 2021. Vanessa is a panellist on STV’s Scotland Tonight within the Talkin’ Heids section. 

Vanessa has a social media following of over 100,000 and she has amassed in excess of 9 million views on her YouTube channel which is dedicated to creating captivating films about Ghana presenting its culture, real estate, lifestyle and personal stories. 

Vanessa featured in BAFTA nominated Black and Scottish on BBC Scotland. She was also in The Peoples News series 2 and series 3 on BBC Scotland. 

Vanessa started a podcast called Magnificent Mothers and is a regular on BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘Bad Parent’s Club’. She has
also contributed on BBC Five Lives ‘School Runnings’. 

Following her degree in Criminal Justice which she gained in 2014 from the University of Westminster, Vanessa continues to be passionate about social justice in all sectors.
