Adaptation of A Visit from the Goon Squad for HBO

Days after winning the Pulitzer prize for the thought-provoking and innovative A Visit From the Goon Squad, Jennifer Egan has just closed a deal with HBO to develop her novel into a TV series.

Goundswell Productions’ Michael London (The Illusionist, 2006; Milk, 2008) will produce alongside Jocelyn Has Simpson. Though a writer has yet to be appointed for the series’ pilot, Jennifer Egan will remain involved in the entire process as a consultant. The author mentioned HBO’s The Sopranos as an inspiration.

The Pulitzer prize is the last in line of prestigious awards and nominations for A Visit From the Goon Squad as it also won the National Book Critics Circle, was longlisted for the Orange Prize, shortlisted for the PEN/Faulkner award and won the 2011 Tournament of Books. The book is to be published in 16 countries.
