Atwood nominated for Canada's Business Book Award 2009

Margaret Atwood has been shortlisted for Canada's National Business Book Award (NBBA) for her book Payback: Debt and the Shadow Side of Wealth (Bloomsbury 2008).

In this wide-ranging history of debt, Margaret Atwood investigates its many meanings through the ages, from ancient times to the current global financial meltdown. The Times described the book as ‘a fascinating, freewheeling examination of ideas of debt, balance and revenge in history, society and literature'.

The NBBA was established in 1985 to recognize outstanding talent in Canadian business writing. The range of submissions every year reflects the breadth of Canadian business writing from financial analysis to social, historical and economic commentaries on issues affecting the business community.

The winner will be announced at the award luncheon on May 7 in Toronto.
