William Boyd and Elif Shafak have both been selected to be Authors of the Day at this year’s London Book Fair. William Boyd will be Author of the Day on the opening day of the Book Fair on Monday 15th April and Elif Shafak will hold the title for Tuesday 16th April.

His novels have garnered many awards, including the Whitbread, the Somerset Maugham Award, the Jonathan Llewellyn Rhys Prize, the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, the Prix Jean Monnet and the Costa Novel of the Year. On being part of the book fair, Boyd said, "I’m both delighted and honoured to be one of the Authors of the Day at The London Book Fair. It’s a rare and rather wonderful pleasure to find oneself for a few hours at the very centre of the international publishing industry and LBF always provides the warmest of welcomes to writers."

William Boyd’s eagerly anticipated new James Bond continuation novel, as yet untitled, will be published in the UK on Thursday 26 September 2013.

Elif Shafak has published twelve books, eight of which are novels. Critics have named her as “one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Turkish and world literature”. Her books have been translated into more than thirty languages and she was awarded the honorary distinction of Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters.
